Quelques citations \u00e9clairent cette \u00e9volution, la parole \u00e9tant donn\u00e9e aussi \u00e0 ceux qui la combattent pour diverses raisons.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"citation\"><span class=\"enonce\">\u00ab\u00a0La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 est compos\u00e9e de deux grandes classes\u00a0: ceux qui ont plus de d\u00eeners que d\u2019app\u00e9tit et ceux qui ont plus d\u2019app\u00e9tit que de d\u00eeners.\u00a0\u00bb<span id=\"984\" class=\"cit-num\">984<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auteur\"><span data-href=\"\/auteurs\/nicolas-de-chamfort\"><span class=\"author\"><span class=\"surname\">Nicolas de <\/span><span class=\"name\"><span class=\"caps\">CHAMFORT<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> (1740-1794), <cite>Pens\u00e9es, maximes et anecdotes<\/cite> (posthume, 1803)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"ressi\">Cette v\u00e9rit\u00e9, valable sans doute en tout temps et tout lieu, s\u2019impose plus cruellement \u00e0 la fin de l\u2019Ancien R\u00e9gime o\u00f9 les riches (privil\u00e9gi\u00e9s) se sont enrichis, sans que les pauvres (surimpos\u00e9s) aient eu leur juste part de la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique du pays. Peut-on y voir une amorce de la lutte des classes, au sens marxiste\u00a0? <\/p>\n<p>Moraliste du si\u00e8cle des Lumi\u00e8res, Chamfort va s\u2019enthousiasmer pour la R\u00e9volution en 1789. On lui doit le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.histoire-en-citations.fr\/indexation\/slogan\">slogan<\/a>\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Guerre aux ch\u00e2teaux, paix aux chaumi\u00e8res.\u00a0\u00bb La formule fera l\u2019objet d\u2019un d\u00e9cret \u00e0 la Convention nationale, dat\u00e9 du 15\u00a0d\u00e9cembre\u00a01792. Premier styliste de notre litt\u00e9rature, moraliste et observateur des <em>M\u0153urs du si\u00e8cle<\/em> (sous-titre des <em>Caract\u00e8res<\/em>), il doit son succ\u00e8s \u00e0 cette seule \u0153uvre.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"citation-small\">\u00ab\u00a0La feinte charit\u00e9 du riche n\u2019est en lui qu\u2019un luxe de plus\u00a0; il nourrit les pauvres comme des chiens et des chevaux.\u00a0\u00bb<span id=\"986\" class=\"cit-num\">986<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auteur\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.histoire-en-citations.fr\/indexation\/rousseau\">Jean-Jacques <span class=\"caps\">ROUSSEAU<\/span><\/a>, <em>Correspondance<\/em>, \u00e0 M. Moulton<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Humili\u00e9 dans ses divers postes de laquais et de gouverneur aupr\u00e8s de ma\u00eetres orgueilleux, Rousseau parle de ce qu\u2019il sait et que les autres philosophes ignorent \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.histoire-en-citations.fr\/indexation\/diderot\">Diderot<\/a> except\u00e9, qui connut aussi la pauvret\u00e9, avant de vivre en courtisan.
